No to annexation

No to annexation

Before talking about the recent Israeli (and American) plans to annex the Jordan valley and other parts of the West Bank, let's keep in mind that all historical Palestine is under occupation. First, the colonialist Zionist movement occupied 80% of Palestine in 1948 after ethnic cleansing of more than 800.000 of the Palestinian people and in June 1967 Israel occupied what remains from Palestine.
The territories which are now subject for annexation are in facto annexed since the first moment of occupation, what Israel tries to do now is to make this annexation de jure, to make it legal by getting the recognition of the international community. The American administration already gave its blessing while other western countries had enough of declaration of soft condemnations, not one country took a real practical step.
For us, the struggle against these plans of annexation is a part of our general national struggle against occupation and for implementing the right of return for all Palestinian refugees and it will continue. We’ll never give up under any circumstances and in spite of the power imbalance in favor of the occupation. If Israel will continue with this plan, for sure, the resistance will escalate and a new Intifada will be approaching.
To be honest, we don’t count much on European governments to take any effective steps against the israeli plans. These governments, for a long time, gave almost unlimited support to the israeli occupation policy to a degree of becoming partners. Without the American and European support to Israel occupation  won’t endure more than 7 days rather than 70 years.
On the other hand, we count very much on international solidarity from progressive workers, students and other popular circles. For example, you can put more pressure on your own governments to stop supporting the Israeli occupation. But the most important thing, you can promote sanctions against Israel on all levels, you can join the campaign of the BDS
and fight against Israeli racism and apartheid system.
