Galilee Today

Galilee Today Alternative Tours

Rediscover the Arab-Palestinian Galilee

It is not an exaggeration to claim that the Galilee is the most beautiful part of the Holy Land with its natural scenery, wonderful climate, rich archeological and historical sites, and colorful cultural life.
According to UN Resolution181, most of the Galilee is designated as part of the Palestinian state, which until now has not been established. In 1948, the newly founded state of Israel occupied the whole Galilee after destroying many villages and uprooting many inhabitants. For more than half a century, Israel has attempted to change the Arab character of the Galilee and to obliterate its Palestinian landmarks and features. Israel implemented the so-called “Judaization of the Galilee,” which in effect means the confiscation of Arab land and the continual building and development of Jewish settlements.
In spite of this, the Palestinian character of the Galilee has not disappeared. You can still find remnants of the land’s Palestinian roots under the ruins of the destroyed villages, which is still visible on the ground, challenging the occupation.
Therefore, we in the Galilee consider it very important and urgent for friends and visitors to see first hand the other Galilee—the Arab-Palestinian Galilee—making alternative tours available throughout the region, including the Upper, Lower, Eastern and Western areas of the Galilee.

What can these tours offer?

· Visit beautiful landscapes, including traditional Arab villages surrounded by deep valleys, winding streams and high mountains, some with views of the Mediterranean Sea or the Sea of Galilee.
· Visit archeological sites dating from the Canaanite era through to the Roman, Islamic, Ottoman, and Crusader periods. Tours may include the holy places of the three monotheistic religions: Nazareth, Qana, Tiberia, Safad, Acre, Sakhnin, Deir Hanna to mention a few.
· Visit the destroyed villages of 1948, illustrating the contrast between these and the Jewish settlements built on the ruins of former Arab-Palestinian homes. The names of these destroyed villages were often stolen and used as the names of the new settlements. Examples include: Iqrit, Ber’im, Gabsieh, Saforia, Mia’ar, Sohmata, and many others.
· Visit the unrecognized Bedouin villages which the state of Israel deprives of basic necessities, such as electricity, water, and schools. Israel also forbids the Bedouin communities to build new homes, forcing them to leave their lands.
· Visit the villages of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, the northernmost past of the mountains of Galilee, with the opportunity to speak with its strong and proud people.

Accommodations

Galilee Today Alternative Tours can also book a room in a Bed and Breakfast located in a pleasant traditional guesthouse in one of the Arab villages at a reasonable price. There is also the possibility of staying with a family for those who wish to practice the Arabic language or to experience the Palestinian way of life.

Good, inexpensive restaurants with traditional, home-style Arab cooking are available for dining.

All tours can be guided in Arabic, English, German, Dutch and Hebrew.

This is an excellent opportunity of particular interest to foreign media professionals and study groups.

I am back

after more than 1 month of absence for diffirent reasons which not the right place and time to talk about it, I'm again here. time goes forward, sometimes too fast that one can't stop and have a breath. and always indifferent to waht's going arround. ok, it's not the right time to pholosphize either. I want only to say few words about the daily events, her in Sakhnin, in Palestine and in the world. the country enters a period of elections, which mean much lies and cheatings. there are more and more talks about peace, but in the same time there are more wars, crimes and violence. there's hope for better future, and there's dispair for bitter reality. there's much love but there's equal quantity of hate. I'll talk about all of this to everybody who's ready to listen, and every body can feel free to attack me back and crticize me. I still have a wide breast and much patience. so welcome to my blog, to sakhnin

what a super power

What a super power
Every one knows now that beside the big 5 members that have permanent seat in the security council of the United Nations, there's another super power. A state which stands immediately behind the USA, some people say: it's often even stands before the USA. This super power called Israel. One of the most flagrant secrets in the world says: that this tiny state is one big arsenal of nuclear weapons. But no one dare to do or say anything about it, when Mr. Baradii, director general of the World Nuclear Agency (IAAE) visited Israel, he became like a poodle and declared that he understand the position of Israel, in the same time he ran to find nuclear weapons in Iraq following the Israeli-American lies, and attacks every morning and evening Iran and North Korea for their atomic programs. The super power Israel is the fourth biggest country exporting weapons to the whole world. Some of its most sophisticated weapons live tested in the West Bank and Gaza. In 1967 Israel achieved one of the biggest and fastest victories in human history against the Arab world. If the fighters of Hamas launched a primitive Qassam that makes a small hole in open field or in a wall, then Israel response by sending a rocket witch can destroy several houses in one beat.
But it seems that to be superpower is something and to be courageous is something else. During the second Intifada (and much before that) the strongest army in the world was so coward that it had to hide behind children or old people to attack a house in Jenin or Nablus or Hebron. The Israeli soldiers used unarmed civilians as human shields, as hostages to commit their crimes. Some of them get for that medals and became heroes. While they afraid to travel abroad because they afraid to be arrested for war crimes. The last 2 days the Israeli media talk about the decision of the high court to forbid these crimes. Good morning high court, nice that you woke up finally.
Many crimes against humanity still committed in Israel and everywhere in this world and the criminals considered to be heroes, while those who fight to survive are terrorists.
